As a Kenyan farmer, my journey to economic prosperity has been fraught with challenges. The unpredictable nature of agriculture, coupled with limited resources, made it tough to make ends meet. But today, I have hope; I have witnessed a transformation that is changing our lives for the better, thanks to President Ruto’s visionary agricultural reforms.
Affordable working capital provided through cooperative societies has been a game-changer. This support means I can invest in my farm without worrying about financial constraints. I’ve been able to purchase high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and farming equipment. This has significantly boosted my farm’s productivity and, consequently, my income.
President Ruto’s agricultural revolution doesn’t stop there. The introduction of modern agricultural risk management tools, like crop and livestock insurance, has provided us with a safety net. No longer do we live in fear of losing everything due to adverse weather or diseases affecting our livestock. Income predictability is now a reality.
I am proud to be part of the two million farmers targeted for transformation from food deficit to surplus producers. Through input finance and robust agricultural extension support, I am already witnessing impressive results. The goal of achieving minimum revenue of Sh50, 000 per acre is within reach, and it’s changing our lives.
The increased productivity in key food chains like maize, dairy, and beef is evident. We are earning better incomes and enjoying improved living standards. The reduction in food imports and the expansion of export crops have bolstered our belief in a brighter future.
President Ruto’s agricultural revolution isn’t just a political promise; it’s a reality that has touched my life and the lives of countless farmers. We are experiencing the transformation, and it gives us hope that the fields we till today will yield prosperity for generations to come.
