The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee, led by President Patrice Motsepe, has successfully concluded a significant meeting in Nairobi, Kenya, focusing primarily on the preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027. This prestigious tournament will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
During the discussions, the committee reviewed the progress made in infrastructure and logistical preparations for the tournament. Following an extensive inspection of key stadiums, including Kasarani, Nyayo, and Talanta, President Motsepe praised the advancements observed. “I am confident in the Football Kenya Federation and the Government of Kenya to deliver a successful tournament,” he said, highlighting the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders.
Kenyan President William Ruto also attended the meeting, addressing the EXCO members about the nation’s commitment to hosting both AFCON 2027 and the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in 2025. “Hosting both CHAN and AFCON are major milestones for us,” Ruto remarked. “I frequently converse with President Motsepe, as well as President Samia of Tanzania and President Museveni of Uganda, ensuring our shared commitment to success.”
As preparations continue, the host nations are determined to make the AFCON 2027 and CHAN tournaments a memorable and world-class event, marking the first time this prestigious football celebration will take place in East Africa. All eyes will be on the collaborative efforts that follow to ensure a successful outcome.
