The Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture, Hon. Mithika has urged all leaders from the Senate to the local leadership to participate in the enlightenment of farmers.

This is a perfect call as the common Mwananchi is known to listen to their local political leader. Kenyans have faith in their elected leaders hence these leaders serve as the best possible informers.

Local leaders understand the populations of their regions best hence will play a role in tailoring the agricultural practices to be taught in forums, the kind of communication methods to employ as well as the language that farmers understand.

Hon. Mithika stated that together with the senate and local leaders, Kenyans can be informed on the ways to seize the opportunities the agricultural sector offers. The CS also thanked the leaders for all the efforts they have made and will make towards making agriculture a lucrative field.

Local leadership has proved to be increasingly valuable as demonstrated in the success of the farmers’ registration and the issuance of subsidized fertilizers.

Hon. Mithika has reiterated the need to empower the Kenyan farmers and enabling the environment for unlocking new possibilities.
