The Universal Service Advisory Council has today paid a courtesy call to the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy (MICDE) Mr. Eliud Owalo at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Nairobi.

In his address, the Chairperson of the Council, Mr. James Ongwae, noted that the team, which is now two months old in office, is effectively providing strategic policy guidance for the administration and implementation of the Universal Service Fund (USF).

Mr. Ongwae pledged to collaboratively work with The Communications Authority Kenya (CA) Board and the Ministry at large. He also assured of the Council’s support towards the advancement of the Digital Superhighway projects to hasten the development of digital transformation countrywide.

CS Owalo congratulated the team for their appointment to the Council following an objective recruitment process through the Public Service Commission.

He urged them to attend a corporate governance workshop and meaningful benchmarking sessions for gainful exposure.

The CS highlighted the importance of USF in supporting ICT projects and urged the Council to be dedicated and exercise fairness in dispensation of their duties.

Mr. Ongwae was accompanied by members of the Council; Mr. Patrick Mwati, Ms. Lily Koech, Mr. Francis Gitau, Ms. Joy Mutuma, Dr. Ferdinand Nyongesa, Mr. Benjamin Rop and Ms. Elizabeth Limagur.
