Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday revealed that he, together with President William Ruto are spending sleepless nights, going to the office as early as 5am to ensure the country gets back on track.

Speaking during a church service in Karatina on Sunday, Gachagua said so far the country is doing well compared to when they took over when the country was in ‘ICU’.

He said former President late Mwai Kibaki also took over when the country was worse and was criticized in his early years as the President but critics were silenced when he turned round the economy.

“When Kibaki became the President, he found a worse situation than we found, people had huge expectations, I used to see the headlines in 2004 and 2005,” Gachagua said.

“2004, 2005 walikuwa wanapigia Kibaki kelele wakimwambia yeye ni bure, 2006 mambo ikaanza kubadilika watu wakanyamaza. Ikifika 2007 watu wakaamua Kibaki arudi, by the time Kibaki alimaliza miaka yake kumi, he was a hero of this country, the same thing is happening today,” he added.
