Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting national unity and progress, urging young leaders in the Mt Kenya region to steer clear of divisive politics.
Speaking at a public event, Gachagua emphasized the importance of unity, stating, “President Ruto and I will continue mentoring young leaders to take up political leadership in the future. But they have to be cautious and understand that our strength and relevance in national politics are based on our unity. We were divided in the past and we vowed never again shall we be divided.”
Gachagua also addressed the recent heavy rains and windstorms that devastated families in Kinangop constituency. He delivered essential supplies and pledged government support to assist affected families in rebuilding their lives, stating, “I have been sent by our President William Ruto to encourage the families and ensure that the affected reconstruct their lives.”
During his visit, Gachagua assured residents of ongoing development projects in Nyandarua County, including the approval of the construction of the Ihithe-Ndunyu Njeru Road, aimed at enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time between Nyandarua and Nyeri Counties.
Furthermore, Gachagua received strong support from MPs of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Jubilee Party, who affirmed their solidarity with the Deputy President and President Ruto. Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku echoed this sentiment, saying, “Do not listen to the political noises involving succession. Do not be distracted by politics. We are solidly behind you and the President. You are our leader not only now but also in the future.”
Amidst these efforts, Gachagua urged Mt Kenya leaders to prioritize unity and support, emphasizing the region’s backing for President Ruto and the Deputy President. Senator John Methu reiterated this sentiment, declaring, “As Nyandarua people, we love you and we will continue supporting you. We are grateful as youth leaders for the mentorship. I wish to remind Mt Kenya leaders that the Deputy President is our leader and our kingpin.”
