Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday emphasized the national government’s unwavering commitment to combating drugs and illicit brews, stating the fight must continue without interruption.

Speaking in Kiambu at the memorial of late Bishop Allan Kiuna, Gachagua announced that individuals supporting the drug and illicit brew trade would be named publicly, aiming to deter others and hold them accountable.

”We must save our children from these drugs and as a truthful leader, I have said that we will name them those who sell poison to the people. We must work together and save the community and we will not relent on this fight,” Gachagua said, while inviting the church to help the government in this war.

The DP emphasized the importance of the church in rehabilitating those affected by drugs and illicit brews, advocating for a collaborative effort to save the community. He stressed the need to protect the youth from the dangers of drugs, framing it as a crucial responsibility for leaders and communities alike.

DP Gachagua has also called for unity in the Mount Kenya region, urging people to support the government in this critical fight and emphasizing that the region is not defined by tribalism.
