Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a stern warning to school administrators and teachers, cautioning them against turning away students at Junior Secondary Schools for unpaid fees or lack of school uniforms.

He emphasized the importance of leniency towards parents during these difficult economic times, stating, “Mwalimu yeyote akipatikana amefukuza mtoto, kabla huyo mtoto afile nyumbani, mwalimu atakuwa ameenda.” (Any teacher found to have sent a child home, before that child goes home, the teacher will be gone).

Gachagua also highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting the education sector, citing the timely disbursement of over thirty billion Kenyan shillings to schools.

Furthermore, Gachagua urged members of the national government to consider allocating funds for school infrastructure, stating, “Naomba MP’s wakubali kuchukua infrastructural needs of schools so that the national govt can take care of the rest.”

The Deputy President’s remarks were supported by the education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu and principal Secretary Belio Kipsang.
