The Ministry of Education, through Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, has officially announced the postponement of the reopening of schools, which were initially scheduled to commence on April 29, 2024.

Learners are now expected to resume classes from May 6, 2024, following the one-week extension of school holidays. This decision comes in response to the heavy rains and floods that have affected various regions across the country.

CS Machogu in a statement on Sunday midnight cited the adverse effects of the heavy rains on schools nationwide, leading to safety concerns for both students and staff. Reports from field officers and other government agencies confirmed the severity of the situation, necessitating precautionary measures before reopening schools.
