In a bid to enhance service delivery and ensure uninterrupted access to electricity, Kenya Power has initiated a free Prepaid Meter Update Exercise targeting 7.4 million prepaid meters using the Standard Transfer Specification (STS) method.
Under the ‘Update Token Meter Yako Campaign,’ customers have until 31st August 2024 to update their meters to continue purchasing and utilizing tokens seamlessly. Failure to update by the deadline will result in meters not accepting tokens, prompting the need for immediate action.
Joseph Siror, the Managing Director and CEO of Kenya Power, reassured customers that the exercise is free of charge, emphasizing, “I would like to emphasize that this exercise will be free and therefore no customer will be required to pay to have their meter updated.”
Customers purchasing tokens will receive two codes prompting them to update their meters, a crucial step to avoid disruptions in token loading. Siror highlighted the importance of this exercise in revamping systems to minimize future challenges and ensure efficient energy access.
Kenya Power has provided detailed instructions and dedicated support teams to assist customers throughout the update process, emphasizing the significance of active participation in maintaining a secure and efficient prepaid meter system.
For any queries or assistance, customers are encouraged to contact Kenya Power’s customer service, as the company remains committed to delivering reliable power services.
