Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has announced a major crackdown on violence and illicit activities in the Kisii region and across the country. Kindiki vows, “We’ll slay impunity and violence for good,” promising swift action against those funding violent acts. He stated, “No stone shall be left unturned” in the government’s efforts to rein in on criminal activities.
The CS revealed plans for imminent arrests of individuals involved in violent activities, aiming to deter future mayhem. Kindiki emphasized, “Nobody is above the law,” stressing that security agencies will act regardless of party affiliation. He urged the political class to resolve disagreements peacefully, stating, “Nobody should force his views on any other person.”
In the battle against illicit brew and narcotics, Kindiki reported significant progress with thousands of liters seized and destroyed. The crackdown has led to a reduction in crime, with numerous illegal premises closed down. Plans are underway to relocate the Kisii Prisons to make way for an affordable housing project, with construction set to commence soon.
