In a concerted effort to address emerging security challenges in Kenya, the Ministry of Internal Security is committed to enhancing cooperation and coordination among various agencies involved in security operations across the country. This initiative aims to bolster the nation’s security apparatus and protect its citizens from both traditional and contemporary threats.
Today, the Permanent Secretary of Internal Security, Mr. Raymond Omollo, played a pivotal role in presiding over a joint sensitization forum, fostering collaboration between the National Security Council Committee Secretariat and the Coast Region Security and Intelligence teams. This forum, primarily centered on security concerns affecting the coastal region, aimed to chart a comprehensive strategy to counter these challenges effectively.
One of the key directives issued by PS Omollo was for these teams to work collaboratively in formulating a clear and efficient roadmap tailored to the region’s specific needs. This comprehensive approach addresses not only the longstanding security issues but also the newer threats, including illegal land occupations and radicalization.
The participants at the forum emphasized the urgent necessity to strengthen the region’s security framework in response to these emerging challenges. Among these challenges, the focus was notably on combating terrorism, the drug trade, and the illegal occupation of both private and public lands.
The Ministry’s commitment to these objectives underscores its dedication to the safety and well-being of the Kenyan population. By fostering a unified front among security agencies and intelligence teams, the government aims to create a safer environment that is resilient against both existing and potential threats.
