In a strategic move towards realizing the government’s ambitious Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), the Ministry of Interior and National Administration has appointed 30 National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) as Trainers of Trainers (ToTs). This select group of officers is set to undergo specialized training aimed at equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to address pressing national issues, ultimately leading to improved citizen security, peace, and safety.
The newly appointed NGAO ToTs will receive comprehensive training encompassing a range of emerging challenges facing the nation, with a particular emphasis on security, peace, and safety for all citizens. Additionally, the program will focus on enhancing public participation, engagement, and communication strategies to tackle the multifaceted issues that currently confront Kenya.
This significant initiative extends its reach beyond NGAOs to include Deputy County Commissioners (DCCs) who were selected based on merit. DCCs will receive training on cross-cutting issues such as climate change, employee wellness, and psychosocial support. Armed with this knowledge, they will then be deployed to impart a radical shift in mindset to all levels within the NGAO structure.
Permanent Secretary Dr. Ray Omollo underscored the program’s primary objective, emphasizing that the aim is to ensure every interaction between administrators and citizens is characterized by empathy and a genuine understanding of individual needs and concerns. This approach aligns seamlessly with the government’s commitment to fostering socio-economic empowerment and inclusive prosperity.
“The government is progressively accelerating the implementation of its visionary blueprint on socio-economic empowerment and inclusive prosperity under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA),” Dr. Omollo affirmed. This appointment is set to create an environment where every Kenyan citizen not only thrives but also contributes significantly to collective prosperity.
Dr. Omollo further highlighted that this initiative stems from the recognition that the ever-evolving landscape calls for innovative approaches. He noted, “In this regard, that which worked yesterday may not always work today or even tomorrow.”
The Ministry of Interior and National Administration’s decision to invest in specialized training for NGAO ToTs and DCCs reflects a forward-thinking commitment to addressing the dynamic challenges facing Kenya. By equipping these officers with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate these issues effectively, the government is taking a significant step towards achieving the BETA plan’s objectives and delivering on its promise to the Kenyan people.
In the coming months, the nation will be closely watching as these trained officers take on their roles, working tirelessly to create a safer, more prosperous, and inclusive Kenya for all. The success of this initiative could well be a pivotal moment in Kenya’s journey towards a brighter future.
