Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, the wife of the Deputy President, today, Friday, January 26th, 2024, visited Kandege prison in Kuria East Constituency.

During her visit, she led a tree planting initiative, with inmates planting 500 tree seedlings. The event occurred in the expansive 46-acre prison compound, with the goal of contributing to the Deputy President’s office’s target of planting two million trees annually, in alignment with the Presidential Directive to plant 15 billion trees by 2032.

During the visit, Pastor Dorcas commended the inmates for their efforts, stating, “I am grateful for the work you have done in planting trees, and greening the environment.” She also encouraged the inmates to reset their minds and learn valuable skills during their time in prison, emphasizing the power of second chances and positive thinking.

“Regardless of what you have done, you have a second chance for life. Reset your mind, here in prison, learn a skill, for as a man thinketh so is he,” she said.

This visit is part of Pastor Dorcas’s ongoing efforts to promote rehabilitation and skill-building among inmates, as she continues her preventive program focused on the growth and development of boys and men in society.
