President William Ruto, during his visit to the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat in Accra, Ghana, emphasized the critical need for boosting intra-African trade.

Addressing the low levels of intra-African trade, President Ruto highlighted the continent’s potential, stating, “Africa is well poised to be a single market that is globally competitive.”

Acknowledging the efforts to address trade disparities, he commended regional economic blocs and initiatives like the AfCFTA for driving trade integration.

President Ruto expressed full support for the AfCFTA, emphasizing Kenya’s commitment to enhancing Africa’s financial sector and advancing policy and research development initiatives.

The AfCFTA, the world’s largest free trade area, aims to create a unified market for goods and services across Africa, fostering economic growth and opportunities for SMEs and youth.

President Ruto’s visit to Ghana culminated in the signing of seven agreements to strengthen bilateral ties, focusing on trade, investment, science, technology, tourism, education, governance, and defense between Kenya and Ghana.
