President William Ruto has issued a directive to the National Treasury to reassess the gazette notice released by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), proposing a salary increase for state officers.

The decision, announced through State House spokesperson Hussein Mohammed, reflects Ruto’s call for prudence in government spending following the withdrawal of the Finance Bill 2024.

“The President has instructed the National Treasury to revisit the Gazette Notice dated August 9, 2023, from the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) concerning the remuneration and benefits for State officers,” the statement conveyed.

“Given the withdrawal of the Finance Bill 2024 and the impending fiscal limitations this year, President Ruto stresses the importance of fiscal responsibility across all government branches.”
