Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua staunchly defended President William Ruto’s foreign travels, dismissing critics and emphasizing their potential benefits for Kenya. At the Commissioning Electricity Mini-Grid event in Wasini Island, Kwale, Gachagua encouraged Ruto to explore destinations that would advance Kenyan interests.

Gachagua underlined that President Ruto’s international voyages were not for leisure but aimed at benefiting Kenyans and boosting the nation’s economy. He stressed the importance of the President’s role in attracting foreign investments that could stimulate economic growth and prosperity.

“Through your trips, more business people now want to visit the country since they know it is a peaceful nation with an environment conducive to investment,” Gachagua remarked.

Criticism of Ruto’s foreign trips had arisen, with some questioning their purpose. However, the Deputy President stood firm in his support, echoing President Ruto’s assertion that these trips were integral to his role as the Head of State.

Ruto highlighted the tangible results of his overseas journeys, particularly in forging bilateral agreements that enhance job opportunities for Kenyan citizens. Notably, a recent visit to Saudi Arabia paved the way for a bilateral agreement that could potentially provide employment for 350,000 Kenyans.

President Ruto concluded that he would continue these foreign engagements, as long as they contribute to the country’s growth and prosperity. His commitment to leveraging international ties for Kenya’s advancement remained resolute.
