President William Ruto has told residents of Homa Bay Kenya Kwanza government is an inclusive regime with no losers.

Speaking at the Homa Bay Investment Conference held at Tom Mboya University grounds on Tuesday, President Ruto stressed the importance of unity in the country.

“I told you when I was speaking at the market near here but you didn’t believe me then….I remember telling you that we want to unite the country, we want to work together for the unity of Kenya.”

President Ruto added that he wanted a win-win outcome for everyone, even those in the opposition who feel left out.

“There is room for all of us in Kenya, you don’t win by making others lose…those in opposition must mean well for Kenya, those in government must mean well for Kenya…there are no citizens who are in opposition…it is only these leaders who have a job in Parliament…all Kenyans are on the same side.”

As part of the programme, the Head of State also officially launched the Riwa Special Economic Zone.

The SEZ, which was recently gazetted, is expected to boost industrialisation as companies set up manufacturing and processing plants that are expected to employ thousands of Homa Bay youths.

President Ruto’s call for unity comes a day after he visited Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Monday, accompanied by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

A campaign team for Mr Odinga’s bid to chair the African Union Commission had also landed in Uganda to woo President Museveni into the Kenyan fold.

The surprise meeting between President Ruto and Mr Odinga comes barely a week after Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Dr Korir Sing’oei revealed that President Ruto was planning to unveil Mr Odinga’s candidature for the AUC post this week
