In a move to expedite passport services, the Department of Immigration Services has designated May 13-17 as a week dedicated to fast-tracking passport delivery across all application centers nationwide.

“We are committed to providing efficient passport services to Kenyans. This initiative will allow applicants to receive their passports promptly from Monday to Friday,” stated a spokesperson for the department.

The directive applies to all immigration offices in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Embu, Nakuru, Kisii, and Kericho, urging applicants who have been notified of their passport readiness to collect them during this period.

“To streamline passport issuance, we have allocated May 13-17, 2024, for expediting passport delivery at ALL application centers nationwide,” the official notice highlighted.

This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to enhance passport issuance and accessibility. In a recent move on May 9, offices were opened on Saturdays for passport collection in Nairobi from 9 AM to 1 PM.

Despite previous delays due to production halts, the Ministry resolved system glitches, leading to a backlog of 724,000 passports. Services have now resumed smoothly to cater to the backlog and current applications.
