The President today made an earnest promise to transform Kibera from slums to a robust, safe, and healthy estate through the Kenya Kwanza Affordable Housing Plan. The highest priority of the Affordable Housing Project is to make housing more accessible to the middle and low income citizens in the country.
H.E President Ruto making the promise to eradicate slums in the city is a heavy promise, filled with hope especially for women and children.

Transformation of slums into estates will directly translate to more safety for women and children, the most affected demographic in the rampant cases of violence and insecurities that are more common in slums and informal settlements.

Children are more often than not, the main targets to indoctrination into a life of crime and drug abuse, a fight that the Deputy President is determined to win. Early introduction into a life of crime has deterred many young people living in slums from education and bettering their lives. Many young people have lost lives in unfortunate circumstances. Valuable lives that this country seeks to protect.

Slums are a habitat diseases such as cholera and typhoid from the lack of accessibility to clean water. Such illnesses are detrimental to young children. The President’s promise for transformation means that risks such as these are dramatically reduced.

This transformation will be a peace of mind for many mothers as estates provide children with safe and secure playing areas for their children. Away from the risks and dangers such as poor infrastructure in sanitation such as open sewers and more.

The promise to eradicate slums in the country is one that further proves that President Ruto is dedicated to bettering the lives of Kenyans from all walks of life.
