The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) and the County Government of Uasin Gishu have announced plans to install 200 transformers in Uasin Gishu county over the next five years. This initiative aims to achieve a 90% connectivity rate, ensuring that the vast majority of residents have access to electricity.

During the signing of a Ksh.60 million matching fund project, REREC CEO Dr. Rose Mkalama expressed the corporation’s commitment to providing 100% access to electricity by the year 2030. This move is set to revolutionize the region’s energy landscape and improve the quality of life for its inhabitants.

Uasin Gishu County Governor Jonathan Bii emphasized the county’s dedication to connecting vital facilities such as milk cooling centers and public institutions to electricity. The ultimate goal is to ensure that 90% of the population has reliable access to this essential resource.
