Jaza Miti is a mobile app that the government and Ministry of Environment launched aimed at aiding Kenyans with the recording of trees planted. The application also gives Kenyans the information needed to plant the correct tree species for their specific regions wherever they might in the country.

As the country grow trees tomorrow and throughout the short rains season, the Ministry urges all to record on Jaza Miti App. The Ministry of Environment has also shared Jaza Miti User Guide for ease of use to all Kenyans.

Jaza Miti App is available on both Play store and Appstore on Apple devices.

The first step after downloading is the Registration. Users will input their name, email address, phone number, and organization where applicable. Then one can create a strong password followed by click to register.

Upon registering, the Home Page allows the user to gain insights on the nationwide tree planting efforts, through informative statistics cards.

The app also allows the user to learn how to document and monitor their planting activities. This will provide accurate data for tracking and analysis. Users are encouraged to record location, species, number of trees planted and the date planted. The documentation can be enhanced by accompanying the information with photos of the planted trees.

Based on one’s location, the application has a tool aimed at helping the users select the right trees for their location based on various ecological factors. Once the user selects the location they’re planting trees in, they can select the species given as well as nearest find the nearest tree nurseries with the available seedlings.

Jaza Miti is for individual, organizations and eco-conscious enthusiasts who are dedicated to planting the right trees, meticulously document and track their tree planting activities and contributing to sustainable reforestation efforts.

President Ruto will be leading the nation for tomorrow’s National Tree Planting Day at Kiu Wetland in Makindu, Makueni County.

The government targets to plant about 500,000 million trees during the current rainy season. In line with the 15bn national tree growing strategy, the Ministry of Environment will fence off the Kiu Wetland site, and ensure that 30% of seedlings planted on Monday across the country, and throughout the short rains season will be fruit, nut and fodder species so as to serve Kenyans food, nutrition and pasture needs, and boost household incomes.
