Hon. Mithika has expressed his gratitude to the President for the 4 Billion shillings addition to the Coffee Cherry Fund. The Coffee Sector is one of the most vital sub-sectors in the Agricultural sector, with the Deputy President spear-heading radical and necessary reforms currently.

This addition of 4 Billion shillings will play a significant role in the improvement of the sector is several ways.

  1. Improvement of the Farming Practices.

Technology has made advancements in all fields including agriculture. This funding will go a long way to educate farmers on these modern farming techniques which will not only increase the farmer’s yield but also improve the quality of the coffee the country produces.

This will ultimately lead to better prices and improved livelihoods for the farmers.

  • Improvement of Infrastructure.

Some of the funds will be used to improve the infrastructure of coffee growing regions which will better the lives of not just the farmers but the entire population of these areas. Improving the infrastructure ultimately leads to economic growth.

  • Improvement in Opportunities.

The profitability of the coffee sub-sector will serve to encourage more Kenyans in coffee growing regions to embrace the practice. This will also lead to more employment opportunities in the farms, processing plants, cooperatives and much more.

Ultimately, the economy of the regions and the country at large will greatly improve.
