The national recruitment of NYS servicemen and women kicked off earlier today, on Monday 5th February, 2024. This exercise is expected to go on until Friday the 9th February 2024.

15,000 servicemen and women will be recruited during the exercise through all Sub County Headquarters across the country and will thereafter receive paramilitary and technical training.

In 2023, His Excellency President William Ruto directed the National Police Service, Kenya Defense Forces, Kenya Wildlife Service and Kenya Forestry Service to recruit 80% of their pool from NYS.

Majority of the recruits will therefore stand a chance to be absorbed into these institutions at the completion of their training.

The NYS currently sits at the center of the government’s current Labour Export Program, with plans put in place to export NYS servicemen and women overseas. The Labour Export process is underway.

The government has made steps towards facilitating the issuing of passports at NYS Headquarters in Ruaraka.

This year’s recruitment exercise is a ward-based where wards have been allocated a specific number of recruits depending on the population.

In alignment to the fact, CS Kuria has therefore urged the MCAs, MPs, Women Reps Senators, Governors, as well the common Mwananchi to monitor and ensure that the exercise is fair and transparent.

 He asked the leaders to ensure each ward get their rightful shares.
