Government of India has gifted a state-of-the-art CT Scan equipment to the Kenya Navy Base in Mtongwe.

Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, speaking at the ceremony held at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi, emphasized the transformative impact of the donation, stating, “The medical equipment will significantly augment the Forces’ mission accomplishment which is a big milestone for the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).”

The CT Scan equipment, accompanied by a comprehensive package of servicing and infrastructure support, is set to revolutionize diagnostic services at the Ministry of Defence. This development will enable military personnel and their dependents in the coastal region to access specialized diagnostic procedures without the need to travel to Nairobi, a significant boon for the region.

Prior to the signing ceremony, the CS hosted the High Commissioner for a courtesy call, emphasizing the enduring bilateral relations between the two countries. Highlighting the robust Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2016, the CS emphasized the multifaceted collaboration between Kenya and India, spanning various sectors such as military training, medical services, cultural and sporting activities.

The meeting also saw discussions on potential future cooperation between the two countries, including maritime security, defence industry, border security, food industry, and defence research and development, among others.

The CS, accompanied by high-ranking military officials, including Chief of the Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla and Principal Secretary for Defence Patrick Mariru, expressed optimism about the future prospects of collaboration, emphasizing the potential for mutual benefit and growth for both Kenya and India.
