Hon. Florence Bore, Cabinet Secretary to the Ministry of Labour yesterday had a meeting with Mr. Shadrack Mwadime, the PS State Department of Labour and Skills Development and heads of various sectors at the State Department.
The purpose of the meeting was to provide the Cabinet Secretary with an overview of the accomplishments and milestones achieved in the past six months, as well as to discuss the planned objectives for the next six months.
During the meeting, they reviewed the progress made by each department within the State Department for Labour and Skills Development over the past six months.
They also discussed strategies to maximize progress in each department moving forward.
It is important to note that the State Department for Labour and Skills Development consists of seven technical departments, namely the Department of Labour, Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS), Office of Registrar of Trade Unions, Labour Market Research and Analysis (LMRA), Directorate of Labour Migration Management (DLMM), National Productivity and Competitiveness Centre (NPCC), and Post Training and Skills Development.
Additionally, the State Department includes one Autonomous Government Agency (AGA), which is the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), as well as two semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGA), namely the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) and National Employment Authority (NEA). These agencies play a crucial role in the overall functioning of the State Department for Labour and Skills Development.
Apart from reviewing past accomplishments, the meeting aimed to outline planned objectives for the next six months.
