In his address at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, President William Ruto has called upon nations to embrace technological change in order to foster efficiency and accountability on a global scale. Urging leaders to not succumb to the fear of the unknown, President Ruto emphasized the importance of providing young people with opportunities linked to technological advancements.

“If we sacrifice the benefits of progress hoping for security, we risk losing both,” President Ruto stated, highlighting the potential consequences of hesitance towards embracing technological evolution.

The President stressed the need for collective action, advocating for the establishment of a multilateral agency dedicated to ensuring the flourishing of humanity on a thriving planet in the future. He emphasized the transformative power of bold and intentional investments, drawing parallels to the remarkable development of futuristic centers like Dubai from once barren deserts.

Acknowledging the resistance and challenges associated with innovation, President Ruto emphasized the necessity for governments to remain agile and responsive in the face of change.

President Ruto celebrated Kenya’s pioneering role in digital technology, citing the monumental impact of mobile money, particularly the revolutionary M-Pesa service. He underscored the liberating efficiency of mobile phone-based cash transfers, which have significantly transformed trade and commerce, benefiting millions of enterprises and customers across multiple countries.
