The government of Kenya continues to show commitment to improve the education sector by increasing funding, increasing the human resources and through partnerships with various organization. The partnership between Ministry of Education and the Human Development Foundation (HDF) is an example of such.

The two organizations recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to boost access to quality education in Garissa, Mandera, and Kisii Counties. Improving infrastructure and facilities is especially vital in these arid and semi-arid areas as this has been a pertinent challenge.

At the meeting with HDF officials, the CS for Education Hon. Machogu praised the Kenyan education system for its strong values. He stated that many expatriates are now sending their children back to the country for studies.

A delegation from neighboring Uganda was recently in the country for a benchmarking exercise. The delegation from the Ugandan education sectors shared their positive observations about the success of the transition to the CBC system.

This is further proof of the quality of the country’s education sector.

During the meeting between Hon. Machogu and HDF officials, Mr. Omar said he would donate 35 Computers for educational and training institutions besides supporting five basic education institutions in the identified regions.

He said his organization assists and develops children living in the most vulnerable conditions to become self-sustaining and live outside of the cycle of poverty.
