Kenya on Friday received another luxurious cruise ship with 3,500 passengers and crew on board that docked at the port of Mombasa.
The port of Mombasa welcomed MSC Poesia, a luxury cruise liner from the Mediterranean Shipping Company.
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) said the cruise ship is carrying 2,500 passengers from different nationalities and 1,000 crew members of which 20 are Kenyans.
Tourism CS Alfred Mutua expressed optimism that the sector will boost the economy of the Coastal region.
The CS on Friday said Kenya’s potential for cruise tourism is huge, adding that the country has recognised the potential of cruise ship tourism as a catalyst for economic growth.
He highlighted the significance of the newly renovated cruise terminal at the port of Mombasa, emphasizing its role as a testament to the country’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and positioning Mombasa as a leading destination for cruise tourism.
