Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome has issued a stern warning to land grabbers nationwide, vowing zero tolerance for impunity under the Kenya Kwanza administration. “Kenya Kwanza is about the rule of law. The government is not ready to tolerate impunity,” Wahome stated.

Speaking today, Tuesday, March 5, 2024 in Nairobi, CS Wahome emphasized the government’s commitment to safeguarding legitimate landowners’ rights to uphold the crucial role of land as a capital for production and investment. She condemned fraudulent claims on privately owned land, citing their detrimental impact on job creation and investment opportunities.

Wahome’s warning came as she personally intervened in a long-standing land dispute in Loresho, Nairobi, assisting businessman Ashok Kumar Rupshi in accessing his contested 8-acre property. The CS’s proactive involvement followed delays in enforcing a court order confirming Ashok and his associate Hitten Kumar as the rightful owners.

“I want a report by tomorrow noon that the individuals who are illegally in this land have been evicted,” Wahome instructed security officers on-site, ensuring the enforcement of the court’s decision.

Expressing gratitude, Ashok Kumar Rupshi praised the CS and the government for enabling him to reclaim his land, expressing readiness to collaborate with Indian investors for its development. The swift action by CS Wahome underscores the government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting property rights.
