In a bold move to combat the scourge of illicit alcohol and narcotics in the Coast region, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a directive to the Coast Regional Security team to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators within two weeks. This decisive action comes as the government declares a full-scale war on this destructive menace.

“We will not sit idly by while our youth are being destroyed by the sale and abuse of drugs. It is time for leaders to speak out and take action against this crisis that plagues our communities,” stated Deputy President Gachagua during a meeting in Mombasa.

Addressing the gravity of the situation, he emphasized the need for swift and resolute measures, stating, “Drug barons and peddlers must face the full force of the law. We demand accountability and immediate action.”

Furthermore, Cabinet Secretary for Interior Kithure Kindiki emphasized the severity of the issue, warning against any form of corruption or negligence among government officers. “Those who aid and abet these criminals will be treated as threats to national security,” he affirmed.

The government’s crackdown extends to all levels, with a call for increased surveillance, prosecution, and rehabilitation efforts to combat the devastating impact of narcotics on society. Leaders from various sectors have rallied behind this initiative, acknowledging the urgent need for collective action to safeguard the well-being of the region.
