Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua returned to his former secondary school alma mater, Kianyaga Boys High School in Kirinyaga County, yesterday, Friday, February 9, 2024, accompanied by other graduates, and promised the institution a dramatic facelift.

Addressing a gathering at the school’s Board of Management meeting, Gachagua expressed his commitment to elevate the school to new heights, stating, “We will support you in all ways necessary, but you must keep your side of the bargain. You must work hard. It is time to position yourselves as men of valour and rise above that clout.”

Reflecting on his own formative years at Kianyaga High School, Gachagua reminisced, “The institution transformed me to who I am today. It is time to shun alcoholism, drugs, and substance abuse and focus on education.”

During the visit, Gachagua also emphasized the government’s commitment to curbing illicit alcohol and drug abuse nationwide, declaring, “The government is taking measures to end consumption of illicit brew and abuse of drugs across the country.”

Accompanying the Deputy President were Kirinyaga Senator Kamau Murango, Woman Representative Jane Njeri Maina, and several Members of Parliament and MCAs.
