Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 visited an officer injured in an attack by illicit brewers during a crackdown in Juja sub-county. Mr. Gachagua assured the officers of full government support, stating, “This battle must be won.” He warned criminals attempting to deter the crackdown, affirming, “There is no stopping until this menace is eradicated.”
During the hospital visit, Mr. Gachagua conveyed President William Ruto’s message of quick recovery to the injured officer and announced the arrest of two suspects, who face serious charges including attempted murder. He further disclosed plans to improve police officers’ terms starting July 1, 2024, ensuring better insurance coverage for those injured or killed in the line of duty.
DP Gachagua praised the progress made in the crackdown, noting a significant reduction in illicit substances. He urged for the operation’s intensification nationwide, stating, “The war is 70% won.”
The government’s commitment to eradicating illicit brews, drugs, and substances remains steadfast, with a renewed determination to combat these vices.
