The Kenya Kwanza government is dedicated to restoring the country’s forests and range lands and one of the various ways to ensure the success of the campaign launched by H.E President Ruto is through partnerships with different organizations such as the church.

This morning, the Forestry PS Mr. Gitonga Mugambi hosted representatives of Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK), Diocese of Mbeere led by Rt. Rev. Moses Masamba at his office.

The PS was briefed on preparations by ACK for the upcoming Huduma Day during which the church will launch their tree growing program to support the 15bn program in ASAL areas as well as flag-off the Green Anglican Movement at Karura Diocesan Farm in Embu County.

The ACK Church is implementing an elaborate ecosystem restoration program that includes mobilization 3000 members to spearhead tree growing activities across its dioceses.

The ACK Church has also set aside 54 acres of fenced land for various ecosystem restoration activities including growing of indigenous and fruit trees species, and establishment of a high yielding tree nursery.

PS Mugambi commended the ACK and assured the church of the Ministry’s support through provision of experts from KEFRI and KFS who will guide them and provide knowledge on various species that are fit to grow in the respective ecological zones.

The PS was joined at the meeting by members of the 15bn national tree growing and ecosystem restoration Secretariat led by Ms Betty Prissy Njoki.
