The Kenya Kwanza government has initiated a 3 billion shillings stipend payment program for Community Health Promoters (CHPs). The initiative was led by H.E. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Karen residence this past Friday.

The DP, H.E Gachagua, was accompanied by the Ministry of Health Cabinet Secretary Nakhumicha Wafula and other top government officials, who all lauded the CHPs for their vital role in advancing primary healthcare under the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Highlighting the necessity of cooperation between County and National governments, H.E DP Gachagua urged the Council of Governors to fulfill their obligations to ensure the initiative’s success.

He defended the introduction of progressive health policies through the Social Health Authority (SHA) to enhance healthcare quality and affordability.

Ministry of Health CS Nakhumicha praised President William Ruto’s administration for recognizing the efforts of CHPs and thanked partners for their support in health reform.

 The CS also appealed to KCB and Safaricom to waive transaction costs to ensure the full stipend reaches the intended recipients.

The event was attended by Principal Secretaries Mary Muthoni Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni and Harry Kimtai Medical Services, Parliamentary Health Committee Chairman Dr. Robert Pukose, and representatives from various organizations.
