Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday lashed out at a section of Mt Kenya lawmakers pushing for his replacement as Ruto’s deputy in 2027, saying the leaders should disengage from national politics and focus their mandate on serving Kenyans.
The second in command, speaking in Gatanga in Muranga County fired salvos at area MP Edward Murui who is at the forefront of pushing for Ndindi Nyoro as his replacement.
”You should stop extending your tentacles into national politics and focus on Gatanga so that you can be elected for a second term,” the DP told Mr. Murui.
President William Ruto’s development tour of Mt. Kenya was overshadowed by political tensions among local leaders in the region as they were pitted against each other.
While calming the storm in Kiambu county on Wednesday, the President reminded political leaders to concentrate on their responsibilities as elected officials and provide adequate services to the public. He also assured the country that the economic situation was improving.
