Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Florence Bore, engaged in discussions with World Bank representatives to advance initiatives aimed at enhancing employment opportunities and reinforcing social protection measures.

During the meeting, CS Bore specifically delved into the details of two significant projects, the Kenya Social and Economic Inclusion Project (KSEIP) and the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement Project (NYOTA). NYOTA follows in the footsteps of the Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities (KYEOP) project.

The discussions encompassed the progress, achievements, challenges, and the future outlook of these projects, which play a pivotal role in realizing the government’s development goals, including the Big Four Agenda and Vision 2030.

Bore elucidated that KSEIP extends the foundation of the National Safety Net program by strengthening the social protection delivery systems. This project goes beyond providing cash transfers and instead seeks to implement an integrated social protection system, fostering sustainable social and economic inclusion for disadvantaged households.

On the other hand, NYOTA’s primary objectives are to augment employment opportunities, boost earnings, and promote savings for young individuals across the nation. It also includes provisions for childcare support, benefitting those who are responsible for children. An estimated 800,000 vulnerable youth are expected to benefit from this project.

CS Bore conveyed her full support for both projects and urged the involved teams to ensure their effective implementation, emphasizing the importance of making a tangible impact on the lives of Kenyan citizens. These initiatives align with the government’s commitment to creating a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.
