Kenya, as PS Jonathan Mueke stated, is one of the biggest producers of dairy products in Africa, with the potential to be an even bigger producer. Speaking yesterday, the Principal Secretary appreciated the immense advocacy that H.E President Ruto has done to create and reopen new markets for the country’s produce.

From Indonesia to Oman to Saudi Arabia to Iran, the President’s travel all over the world have opened up the country to some of the biggest export markets around the globe.

However, the Kenyan farmer is still struggling to meet this demand as animal feed has been quite expensive in the past as the PS stated.

The ability to produce enough dairy products in the country has been greatly hindered by the high prices of animal feeds. This has left a significant gap in the supply.

Mr. Mueke has therefore made a promise to the Kenyan farmers to ensure that this issue is sorted and dealt to with so as to encourage more dairy farming in the country.

The President has also made a commitment to facilitate and provide an enabling environment for the producers of animal feed to ensure that this challenge has been overcome and the Kenyan farmer no longer has to deal with the high cost of animal feeds.

As the Deputy President H.E Gachagua continues with the efforts to reform the agricultural sector and all its sub-sectors, this promise by the PS to State Department of Livestock is one of hope to many Kenyan farmers.
