The government aims to provide uninterrupted internet access nationwide by 2027, aligning with its goal of promoting a sustainable digital economy.

The Communications Authority’s Fifth Strategic Plan 2023-2027 has outlined objectives to spearhead digital access, supporting President William Ruto’s agenda to transform Kenya into an ICT innovation hub.

A significant budget of Ksh106 billion has been allocated over five years to facilitate the digital economy, covering areas such as ICT infrastructure, consumer protection, emerging technologies, and institutional excellence.

To achieve widespread high-speed internet connectivity, emphasis is placed on enhancing fiber-optic technology, which offers superior connectivity compared to other broadband options.

The CA plans to diversify revenue streams and enhance partnerships with the private sector, grants, sponsorships, and donations to fund initiatives aimed at advancing Kenya’s digital economy.
