The President while on a state visit to Nakuru issued about 1,900 title deeds to legal land owners, with the promise to issue more all over the country, in a move that is meant to empower the Kenyan land owners. H.E Dr. Ruto also promised that his government will be sitting up land registries at the grassroots which will ease the numerous land disputes among Kenyans. Land disputes have been known to create rifts between families, organizations and the likes, causing havoc in our social fabric.

Issuing of title deeds is a step towards creating an environment of social and economic integration in the community. A peaceful community gives room for more collaboration and partnership between families, organizations, encouraging Kenyans to migrate to undeveloped areas to build whole new communities. Over the years, the country has seen the emergence of small towns due to the migrations of Kenyans from different parts buying and settling in these areas. New settlements bring forth the development of social amenities such as schools, hospitals, supermarkets, factories and assembling plants and much more.

This is enabled by land owners having legal title deeds that allow them to commercialize their land.

Land owners have also been known to be productive when they are not engaged in squabbles. Farmers hoping to either keep livestock or plant foodstuffs and cash crops cannot comfortably do so when engaged in wrangles on those lands. Hence, issuance of title deeds is a positive step towards the growth of the agriculture sector. The agriculture sector is one of the fundamental pillars of the Kenya Kwanza BETA agenda. The Kenyans farmers will be greatly empowered by the President’s issuance of title deeds.

The government’s plan to have registries in the grassroots will be beneficial especially to Kenyans in the rural areas who might not have the ability to visit the headquarters. This accessibility will be a comfort to many who have queries and disputes to handle, without them having to incur costs such as transport costs to regional registries.

Issuance of title deeds will empower Kenyans by providing them with the security of home ownership. Title deeds can also serve as collateral for future development plans for families and organizations. Funding for projects of income generation is beneficial to Kenyans at a personal level and at an economic level.

President Ruto is continues to show his will to empower Kenyans in all possible ways.
