The high cost of living has been a thorn in the flesh of Kenyans in the past, due to circumstances such as the Covid pandemic, drought brought about by irregular rainfall, geopolitical instabilities and much more. When H.E President Ruto took over the presidency just less than a year ago, he made an earnest promise to Kenyans to not only lower the high cost of living, but also to better the economy and improve Kenya’s global standing. Since then, the country has made some very significant improvements in the following aspects.

  1. Agriculture.

The Bottoms – Up Agenda is built on several pillars one of the most important one being agriculture. Both the President and his Deputy have been in the forefront of reforming the sector. Kenya has since become only the second African country to have a central data base for farmers’ information. This has improved transparency, made for better planning and ultimately, will bring forth better investments into agriculture. With this database, the Ministry of Agriculture together with the government was able to dispense the subsidized fertilizers and inputs more seamlessly, which has seen an increase in this year’s long rains harvests.

Reforms in the coffee sector have also seen the reopening of the NCE which will greatly benefit coffee farmers in the country.

Partnerships with new global partners such as Indonesia, Iran and others will see a broadening of Kenya’s export markets. President Ruto’s openness to making friendships with many world leaders is a testimony of his dreams for a better Kenya.

  • Education.

When the Kenya Kwanza government came into power, public universities were in debt of about 60 million shillings which the President and the Ministry of Education has since sort to deal with. The government has also increased funding to universities with TVETs getting a boost from 5.2Billion to 10 Billion.

The government has also promoted more than 17,000 teachers and recruited about 56,000 new teachers into public schools. This has gone a very long way into solving the human resource challenge that greatly affects the quality of education the children of Kenya receive.

H.E President Ruto has also seen to it that the CBC model has been fully implemented into a seamless system no longer full of confusions.

  • Service Delivery.

Empowering county governments has been a passion project for the president, with his government ensuring counties receive their funds on time. This ensures county government can serve Kenyans much better and easier.

The government has also launched the Gava Mkononi, a program that led to the digitization of government services to give Wanjiku the seamless service delivery they deserve.
