On Wednesday 8th November, the Cabinet Secretary to the Ministry of Public Service,  Hon. Moses Kuria presided over the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Huduma Kenya.

The Cabinet Secretary recognized the long journey that Huduma Kenya has been through over the past 10 years. He also appreciated all the stakeholders who had contributed to making the Huduma Kenya dream a reality and transformed the lives of the people of Kenya.

Hon. Kuria said that plans were underway to expand Huduma Kenya to the grassroots at the constituency level.

“In partnership with our MPs and with the support of NG-CDF we want to ensure that every constituency has a Huduma Center,” he said.

The Cabinet Secretary underscored the need for public servants to transition from public employment to public service and urged public servants to emulate the professionalism of Huduma Center officers.

The launch of the Huduma Kenya Service Delivery Program and the opening of the first Huduma Centre was on 7th November 2013 at GPO, TelPosta Towers, and Nairobi. Thereafter, a Gazette Notice was published to establish the Huduma Kenya Service Delivery Program.

Prior to the establishment of the program, public service was characterized by long queues; lengthy and manual processes; poor customer care; and inaccessible, unavailable, inaccurate and delayed information across the country.

The program transformed this through the establishment of one-stop-shop platforms namely Huduma Centres and Huduma Contact and Tele-counselling Centres. The platforms have standardized access to government services across the country ensuring a quick turn-around time and improved overall customer Experience.

The Huduma Kenya platforms offer 130 in-person services, and over 5,000 digital services serving an average of 60,000 customers per day.

The 10th Anniversary of Huduma Kenya today marks a significant milestone in the transformation of public service delivery.

Present at the event was the Deputy Governor of Nakuru County, Hon. David Kones State Department for Public Service Principal Secretary, Mr. Amos Gathecha, and Huduma Kenya CEO, Mr. Ben Kai Chilumo among other government officials.
