The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) have reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to bolstering security, service delivery, and community engagement in the Boni area through the ongoing Operation Amani Boni (OAB) initiative.

Brigadier David Chesire, the 8th Brigade Commander, visited the Boni region and emphasized the importance of residents continuing to collaborate with security agencies to counter security threats effectively. His visit included stops at primary schools in Milimani Basuba, Mangai, and Mararani areas.

Brigadier Chesire was accompanied by Artillery Brigade Commander Brigadier M. Mwenga and OAB Commander Colonel Joel Tanui. They visited various Forward Operation Bases (FOBs) like those in Witu, Mkunumbi, and the General Service Unit (GSU) in Pandanguo, Lamu County.

During his visit, Brigadier Chesire assured Boni residents of the KDF’s enduring support for the local communities in the Boni area to alleviate concerns about marginalization. The senior KDF official aimed to boost the morale of troops under Operation Amani Boni and underscore the critical role of the multi-agency security structure in ensuring the region’s safety.

He emphasized the importance of building community bonds through Civil-military Co-operation and Key Leadership Engagement, considering these elements as vital contributors to the overall success of operations and the establishment of lasting security in the Boni area.

Brigadier Mwenga commended the troops for their professionalism and teamwork and expressed confidence in the multi-agency approach’s effectiveness in addressing insecurity. He stressed the significance of professionalism in fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
