Kenya has successfully clinched the bid to host the prestigious 2024 Transform Africa Summit scheduled for August. The announcement was made by Smart Africa during the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, affirming Kenya’s position as an ICT powerhouse and a key player in driving transformative impact in the region.

ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo expressed pride in Kenya’s selection, stating, “This win is a testament to the confidence that Smart Africa Alliance places in Kenya and its leadership.” He highlighted Kenya’s role as a hub for international conferences and an ICT investment destination, underscoring the nation’s commitment to advancing the Digital Agenda in Africa.

The Transform Africa Summit, organized by the Smart Africa Alliance, will convene global ICT leaders to explore innovative solutions for Africa’s digital transformation. Director of Communication in the ICT Ministry, Mulei Muia, emphasized the collaboration’s focus on shaping Africa’s digital future.

Notable figures present at the announcement included African Union Commissioner Dr. Amani Abu-Zeid and ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin. The event also saw the participation of ICT ministers from various African countries, highlighting Kenya’s determination to showcase its capabilities on the global stage.

ICT CS Owalo commended Kenya’s progress in digital transformation under President William Ruto’s leadership, noting the country’s growing recognition on the global platform.
