Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife CS, Hon. Mutua yesterday officially inaugurated the first ever annual Kenya Women in Tourism Association conference in Nairobi, Kenya.
During his address, Dr. Mutua emphasized on the significance of short-stay accommodation facilities, colloquially known as Airbnb’s, as integral contributors to the flourishing tourism sector.
Recognizing the evolving landscape, the Ministry of Tourism is actively seeking public input to refine regulations governing these short stay facilities.
This is with the primary focus on enhancing safety and suitability for visitors.
The Cabinet Secretary urged women and youth to consider investing in these facilities, underscoring the importance of exploring innovative alternatives to conventional accommodations.
While acknowledging existing hurdles, the government and the Ministry of Tourism assures the public of the commitment to proactive measures, establishing new regulations that harmonize growth and security in Kenya’s vibrant tourism industry.
Empowering women within the sector and swiftly addressing workplace issues, such as sexual harassment, stand as fundamental priorities.
These initiatives are a testament to the government’s dedication to steering the nation towards a prosperous future with tourism as a pivotal driver.
Hon. Mutua shared with the participants about the Kenya Kwanza Government’s plans for economic transformation as well as the unwavering commitment towards economic growth and sustainability.
“I urge for patience from the public as the President steers the nation towards a prosperous future, with tourism playing a central role” said Dr. Mutua in his address to the attendees.
