Malindi, as coastal town is well known for its pristine beaches and numerous tourist attractions. From the sand dunes in Mambrui, to Gedi Ruins to the Malindi Marine National Park and many more, the town stands as one of the most fascination places to visit in the country.

In an effort by the Kenya Kwanza government to revitalize Malindi as a vibrant tourist destination, the Tourism CS Dr. Mutua met with stakeholders to deliberate on the challenges the town is facing as well as how to solve them.

Among the most persistent challenges mentioned was the urgent need enhance Malindi’s aesthetic appeal.

The stakeholders proposed initiatives to preserve the town’s natural beauty, maintain cleanliness, and promote responsible tourism. This include regular beach cleaning and creating safe beach environments to attract visitors for longer stays.

To enhance accessibility to Malindi, stakeholders stressed the need for well-maintained access roads to the beaches.

Improved transportation is aimed at increasing the number of tourists exploring the picturesque coastline, thereby boosting the local economy.

Infrastructure also stands as a thorn with the stakeholders asking that the government consider the expansion of the airport as a pivotal step in attracting more tourists. They underscored the need for a modern, well-equipped airport capable of accommodating international flights, facilitating easier access to the town.

In response to these and more concerns, CS Mutua assured the stakeholder of the government’s unwavering commitment and support.

 “Tourism can only grow where there is infrastructure and security. Rest assured, all concerns will be addressed promptly, with solutions sought and implemented within the shortest time possible,” he remarked.
