The Ministry of Health has announced plans to enhance port health operations through digitalization and expansion. The move is aimed at aligning with the President’s vision of 24/7 port operations and improving efficiency in non-trade services like traveler vaccinations.

As part of the digital transformation, the Ministry of Health is introducing a digital payment platform by December 23, 2023, which promises to enhance efficiency. The Ministry is also collaborating with partners to equip entry points with advanced ICT tools to fortify operations.

During a working tour of Mombasa port health office today, Ms Mary Muthoni, Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, said that efforts include securing sufficient budgetary allocations and deploying a dedicated task force to mitigate the effects of El Nino on specific entry points.

The Ministry’s commitment to meticulous passenger screening remains pivotal in preventing the spread of emerging conditions across borders. The expansion of port health services’ workforce and the embrace of digitalization will help to improve the efficiency of operations and ensure that the Ministry can provide its services to a wider range of locations.
