Cabinet Secretary of Agriculture Hon Mithika Linturi, has announced a drop in the price of Unga. The price of unga has fallen from Ksh250 per packet to Ksh130 per 2kg. This reduction is a result of President William Ruto’s commitment to lower food prices.

A year ago, when President Ruto took office, Unga was sold at a high price of Ksh250. He pledged to make essential goods more affordable, and the ‘Kenya Kwanza’ administration has been actively working towards achieving this goal. A key measure taken was ensuring that farmers have access to reasonably priced inputs. The government successfully reduced fertilizer prices from Ksh7500 to Ksh2500, making it more economical for farmers. As a result, this has led to a decrease in the price of Unga, as lower input costs for farmers translate into lower prices for consumers.

This commendable effort by the government is especially significant in the current challenging economic situation, where the common Mwananchi can now afford essential food items. The government’s dedication has resulted in a tangible improvement in the cost of living for Kenyans.
