Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke recently attended a board meeting at the Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute – KEVEVAPI.

The institute is one of the country’s leading animal vaccine manufacturers.

At the board meeting, it was resolved to modernize the institute’s operations and increase its capacity in order to meet the growing demand of animal vaccines.

Proper vaccinations of the country’s animals can therefore lead their good health and also contribute to the health of humans. As they say, prevention is better than cure.

The BETA Plan seeks to improve the Agricultural sector and all the sub-sectors. Improving the health of the country’s livestock therefore a top priority to the realization of the agricultural reforms.

Modernization of the KEVEVAPI’s operations will significantly improve the quality of vaccines the Kenyan farmer access, ultimately improving the health of the country’s livestock as well as produce.

The country’s growing livestock population for both commercial and small scale farming is a testament of the Kenya Kwanza government’s efforts to revive and rejuvenate the country’s agriculture sector. Farmers all over the country have embraced more agricultural practices as the government continues to create a receptive and friendly environment.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development will continue to support KEVEVAPI as it embarks on its re-engineering initiative.
