The nationwide National Youth Service (NYS) recruitment that kicked off today is s underway in all sub-counties.

The government seeks to enlist 15, 000 recruits both men and women into the service in the five-day exercise.

Candidates must be Kenya citizens aged 18-25, must have scored D (plain) in KCSE exams and must have a certificate of good conduct.

“The recruitment exercise is underway in all sub-counties scheduled for today. We appreciate the numbers and punctuality of the potential candidates,” stated NYS on X.

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria on Friday said a schedule has been issued outlining the proposed distribution of the recruits per ward.

Kuria called on County leaders and all involved stakeholders to ensure the exercise is fair and transparent.

“Since I have published the number of NYS slots for each of our 1,450 wards, it is up to you to monitor and ensure that the exercise that kicks off tomorrow is fair and transparent, and your wards get their rightful share. It is time to fix this country once and for all. The Price of Freedom is Vigilance,” he said.

He stressed the need to comply with the recruitment programme outlining the distribution of the NYS recruits per ward.
